Making your own stickers can be an easy way to save some money. There is tons of clip art on the internet that can be downloaded for free and turned into a sticker.
- white vinegar
- white glue
- wide brush
- tupperware or jar (optional)
- packaging tape (optional)
- spray bottle or rag
- scissors
- designs printed on paper (regular printer paper works best)
Steps:
- Mix 2 parts glue to 1 part vinegar. 2 tablespoons glue to 1 tablespoon vinegar yields about 6 8.5” x 11” sheets of stickers
- With the brush, paint a layer of the glue/vinegar mixture over the back of the paper. Let it dry completely. This can be sped up by blow drying the paper. When it is completely dry, paint another layer on perpendicular to the first one.
Note: the paper may wrinkle a bit so when the adhesive is dry you can put some books on top to keep the paper flat. - When the sheets are dry, you can place some packaging tape on the front of the sticker to give it a shine like a store bought sticker. Be careful when putting the tape on to ensure there are no creases or bubbles in or under the tape. This is completely optional.
- Cut the stickers out and be sure to keep them flat so they won’t buckle.
- To apply the sticker, spray the adhesive with water from the spray bottle. Be careful. Too much water won’t work and too little water won’t activate the adhesive. You can also wipe a damp rag over the adhesive. You can also lick it but it may taste a little gross.
If your stickers don’t work out the first time, don’t worry. Just stick with it and you will learn the perfect way to do it.
